An appearance related dental procedure that improves or positively impacts a smile is considered to be cosmetic or esthetic dentistry. At Dental Innovations, we use a variety of ways to help your smile look its best.
Veneers:
A veneer is a great looking thin porcelain layer that is placed over the front of minimally prepared natural front teeth.
Veneers can improve the colour, shape, size and alignment of teeth. They can close gaps, restore worn out teeth, make teeth whiter and more ‘even’.
They are an excellent option to improve the overall esthetics of a smile. Veneers take 7 days to be made and with proper care can last 10 years.

Alternative to porcelain veneers: Veneers can also be made of resin, similar to a filling material. These cost less than porcelain veneers but their long term esthetics and strength are not as good.
Closing spaces between front teeth:
Sometimes teeth have natural gaps (diastema) in between them. These can become an esthetic concern. Small gaps can be closed with fillings, veneers or Orthodontics (braces). Large gaps may require crowns or Orthodontics (braces).
Chipped or fractured teeth:
Both front and back teeth are prone to traumatic injuries which can cause the edges of teeth to chip or fracture. These can be restored with fillings, veneers or crowns depending on the severity.
Teeth Whitening:
Teeth whitening or bleaching is a non invasive procedure to whiten teeth.
There are two types of teeth whitening available at Dental Innovations:
- Office Bleach: This is done at the dental clinic. At Dental Innovations, we use patented laser technology to whiten teeth. It is simply the easiest and safest way to get natural looking lighter teeth. Results last 3-6 months and can be maintained by repeating the office bleach or using a home whitening kit.

- Home Bleach: If you prefer to whiten your teeth at home, we have excellent easy-to-use home whitening kits that are gentle and effective. This can be done as a stand alone procedure or as an adjunct to office bleach.
GINGIVA RELATED ESTHETICS IN A SMILE:
Gingiva (gums) can affect how your smile looks in a variety of ways. When too much gum is seen while talking and smiling, it can cause a ‘gummy smile’. A crown lengthening procedure is an effective way to trim away excess gum, reducing the gummy smile appearance and drawing the eye’s attention towards the teeth. An uneven gum line can be reshaped to bring balance to a smile. Dark highly pigmented gum can be lightened by stripping away the top most pigmented layer. Red, bleeding, swollen gums can be treated by deep cleaning or other gum health procedures.
DISCOLORED FRONT TOOTH:
A veneer or crown placed over a discolored / dark front tooth can be made to match adjacent teeth, bringing esthetic harmony back to the smile.
MALALIGNED FRONT TEETH:
Teeth that are not in alignment, such as uneven teeth, overlapping teeth, spaces between front teeth, crooked teeth, teeth that stick out or teeth that slant inwards can be corrected with a combination of veneers, crowns, orthodontics, bonding and re-shaping.
